Competitor’s water polo field of play features two sidelines, with the distance between the goal lines set at 25 meters for women, 30 meters for men, or approximately 75 feet.The sidelines of the field of play are color-coded for clarity: red from the goal line to the 2-meter line, yellow from the 2-meter line to the 5-meter line, and green at the midpoint of the sideline. Additionally, a white center mark is always present.

Floating goals are secured to the pool wall using one or two lanes on each side, known as "tethers." These tethers are typically white, with the re-entry area clearly marked by 2 meters of red.

The sidelines and tethers are securely attached to the pool wall and custom-made to fit any pool dimensions. Competitor water polo lanes come fully assembled to meet all FINA, USA Water Polo, NCAA, and NFHS standards. They are available in two options: Competitor Standard 4-inch discs or Gold Medal 6-inch discs. Additionally, Competitor discs now feature LifeSpan+, a proprietary additive formula designed to significantly extend their durability and lifespan.
