Introducing Tara Tufford

Tara Tufford, Director of Customer Service

Beginning her career with Competitor as a lane builder, Tara Tufford is more than prepared to tackle her new role as the Director of Customer Service. She is confident that she “knows a lot of fun details about the lane lines,” and credits her years training in all different areas of the warehouse and in the shipping department with helping her in her new role. 

Prior to joining Competitor, Tara worked in the restaurant industry, and in retail and sales, “always providing great customer service anywhere I have been.” As the Director of Customer Service, Tara says her focus is to take care of every customer, whether it is through a phone call or email. “The customer is the number one priority.” 

In addition to be accessible for Competitor customers, Tara also works directly with the Competitor network of dealers tomake sure that their questions are answered. In addition, Tara checks every order that comes in to ensure all of the customer’s needs are met and every detail is correct. 

What is your favorite aspect of working for Competitor? 

I love that it is a place to grow. Not just as an employee but as a person. My coworkers are amazing and the dealers are fantastic! 

Tell us about your family.

I have been married since 2012. My husband Adam and I have a blended family of 8. Together we raised 6 kids. We  have 3 daughters and 3 sons, all but one are of adult age. I have 2 parrots named Renfield and Milo. Also a cat named Rocky, and a dog named Charlie.

When you are not working, how do you like to spend your free time?

I love to crochet! I spend a lot of time crocheting because it is very relaxing. I crochet hats, scarves, shawls and blankets.  But I also enjoy reading, writing, and spending time with my family.

What are your words to live by?

I am a firm believer in that you learn something new everyday! If you can’t open your mind up to that, how boring life would be.

What are you watching or listening to?

I love to listen to my true crime podcast while I crochet. 

What are three words that your clients or colleagues have used to describe you?

I have heard the word “fast” quite often when getting quotes back to the dealers. 

Two other words are knowledgeable and focused.

Finally, let’s talk about how you spend the majority of your time servicing the customers of Competitor. What is your most requested need from customers and dealers?

I spend a lot of time working quotes for the dealers, which in turn is for the customer. I really enjoy putting together a shipping quote. There are so many different pieces that go into it, and in a lot of ways it’s  like putting a puzzle together but as quickly and efficiently as possible! I love to walk a customer through all the necessary information for lane lines to ensure the order is done correctly from the start. I can then send them a Lane Wizard showing them their new lanes. I especially enjoy when customers send pictures of their new lanes and share how happy they are with how they look.
